14 km from the Hotel, we will find the beginning of the "Maqui River Falls" trekking. We will begin to ascend guiding us through a narrow path and the magic melody of the waterfalls. We will pass through the forests of the Patagonian Andes, specifically Nothofagus (Lenga, coigue, ñirre) forests that host a variety of birds, such as diucones, cometocinos, chincoles, thrushes, chercanes, among others. Then, we will witness a nature show, the first waterfalls that form small natural pools created by the riverbed. From the first waterfall, we can continue advancing, skirting the pools to see different levels of waterfalls and turning around we will be surprised with the imposing view of General Carrera Lake, the largest lake in Chile, and the second largest in South America, accompanied by the northern ice fields, the third largest extension of ice in the world and on its side, Mount San Valentin, the highest mountain in the Chilean Patagonia, a magnet for scientific expeditions that search their eternal ice for answers to climate change.
